Link Strategy – The concept

If the scenario below is close to your own position, I want to take you through the next stage of SEO. Do this correctly and you will be on your way to High page ranking and Massive volume of traffic, allowing your site to reach the very top of Google.

 1) Your website is up and running.

2) You have written some great content and added in Keywords in sensible quantities ( around 3 – 5%).

3) You have your Titles and images optimised.

Now, you need Links!

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

Search Engines actively look for links, It is the primary concern of off page SEO. These external links, from another website, give the Search Engines a kind of endorsement of the quality of your own site.

The Search Engines do this as a way to weed out the spammers and to give a more credible search result. If quality, relevant links are in evidence on your site, The Search Engines will take note – if other sites believe your site has relevance by providing links, the Search Engines will follow.

Page Rank is a measure of how important a page is. The quality of your links really will push up your Page Rank. Page Rank takes into account your standard SEO processes (see “Keyword Research – Digging for Gold!” also within this blog), but other variables are also considered.

 * Anchor Text – On your linkers site, your link text will be your high performing keyword, your Anchor text. For example, I would use “seo copywriter uk” as it produced the lowest ratio of searches versus competition in my Keyword research. Equally important would be the text surrounding the Anchor text, which should describe the site in more detail;

“seo copywriter uk

The Complete UK SEO Copywriting Service – offering the latest SEO techniques and advice.”

Google recognises this text as well as the Anchor text as being important to work out if this is a relevant link.

* Quantity of inbound links – The more links you have the better, it’s as simple as that. However, without wishing to contradict myself, quality is better than quantity. What I mean is good linking strategy is all about relevance. There is no point having a link from www.britneyzone.com as this helps no one. People looking for the latest Britney news do not want to see my ugly mug. Google is geared up for this and will simply drop my site from its page ranking – in other words…relevant sites only!

The Page ranking of site you wish to link from can be as important as the relevance of site. Google and the others will rate your own page higher if you have quality links from a high Page ranked site.

Although you are ideally trying to identify high page ranked sites (PR3 and PR4 – high but still likely to link), always consider any other low ranking site. What they do not have in Page Rank, they may have in relevance. A PR0 could be a PR3 in a few months!
